The Incredible Mangoes

months have gone by and i may have gone from being obsessed to crazy now. but sometimes absurd relationships too become part of the routine, and it is just not right without them. i am looking at a photograph of her standing in front of a gurdwara with a green dupatta on her head. there isn't much happening in it but it has been holding my attention for a ridiculously long period of time. i know this face well now because i have drawn it over and over again. i am still far from making it look accurate, but i can finally see it so much better. her hair is always parted from the right side of her head, at a very specific, low point. her eyebrows are thick, long and prominent. and her eyes are never fully open. she says people tell her she looks intoxicated constantly, but they always looked like they've been caught daydreaming to me.

i read a sufi story about someone meditating for 40 days with only the thought of their 'beloved', which was the man's buffalo. when he came out he had become a perfect lover because "everything is an expression of God, including a buffalo, and it is no different with love: in love we meet – and become – God"

it's not a wow story, but it did put across how you can make so much out of nothing.
